Nithyananda case trial must proceed - says Supreme Court in a hearing today (5th Aug). No relief from trial for Nithyananda and all accused!! Nithyananda and 4 other accused had filed petitions in Supreme Court to quash the charges against them, and prayed for interim stay of proceedings. However, the High Court of Karnataka has ordered in 2 separate orders (dated 16/7/014 and 1/8/2014) that Nithyananda must appear for medical test & voice test, and that trial proceedings must start in Ramnagar court as the case has been pending for long time. High Court had also ordered Nithyananda and all other accused to appear in Ramnagar on 18/8/2014. Today Supreme Court refused to grant any stay of proceedings in the trial court. SC also did not quash charges against any of the accused. Instead, SC upheld HC's order and once again ordered that ALL ACCUSED MUST APPEAR on 18/8/2014 at Ramnagar court. Therefore, trial proceedings will begin on 18/8/2014. Re. medical test of Nithyananda, SC has directed the Prosecution to file an affidavit regarding the test requirement within 1 week. So the medical tests scheduled for 6/8/2014 by the Karnataka CID is temporarily defferred for 1 week. SC has also directed Nithyananda's lawyers to file an affidavit about why they did not appear before the Magistrate as ordered by the High Court.
