Nithyananda
The Nithyananda story is not yet over. On Monday, he used a less-known medical provision that requires the consent of a patient to take an injection that induces erection, and reportedly ducked a part of the potency test ordered by the Supreme Court, following allegations of sexual assault on a woman in his ashram in 2012.
On Wednesday, the police and doctors said they will invoke section 53 of the Criminal Procedure Code, which empowers them to use force to corner Nithyananda -- a rape accused -- to take it. He will have to appear for the test for a second time.
Cops maintained that Nithyananada was evasive even on the day he was being tested. Initially, he kept on maintaining that he was a 'Sanyasi' and had not performed sex. As a last resort, he used the legal option.
However, the Penile Doppler Test to check anomalies including blood circulation and other aspects pertaining to penile area, which was part of medical examination, has come out normal, sources said.
"The report is not submitted yet. It may take another two days," Dr T Durganna, medical superintendent, Victoria hospital, told Bangalore Mirror. Commenting on the potency test going incomplete, he said, "We will be submitting the report to them (police). Based on their need and if need arises, he would be subjected to test again."
