Bangalore: Self-styled godman Swami Nityananda, who is facing criminal charges, including rape, has been brought to the Victoria hospital on Monday for a medical test to determine his potency levels as directed by the Supreme Court last week.
Nityananda is facing charges of rape, cheating, unnatural offences and criminal intimidation by some of his former devotees.
He was first arrested in Himachal Pradesh in 2010, but was later released on bail in the same year.
Nityananda is being tried in Bangalore and had earlier filed a writ petition in the Karnataka High Court seeking Rs.10 crore as damages to his ashram property from the state government.

Self-styled godman Swami Nithyananda undergoes potency test at the State-run Victoria Hospital in Bangalore on Monday.
Nithyananda who came to the hospital at 7.50 a.m. is still inside the hospital. Several police personnel have been deployed at the hospital.
The Supreme Court on September 3, 2014, had directed Nithyananda to undergo potency test in a 2010 rape case even as it slammed him and the Karnataka Police for the “atrocious” delay in the case.
“The accused [Nithyananda] must subject himself to medical examination,” a Bench comprising justices Ranjana Prakash Desai and N.V. Ramana had said.
The court had also dismissed the plea of Tamil actor Ranjitha Menon, seeking impleadment in the matter to state that she was being wrongly projected as a victim.
