BANGALORE: The CID investigation of Swami Nityananda's case has revealed some interesting facts about his wealth.
Just when tapes showing the godman with Tamil actress Ranjitha were aired on television channels in March, Nityananda was negotiating the purchase of an island near Los Angeles.
CID sources say though the deal was not part of their chargesheet filed against Nityananda, they had collected details of his property, wealth and investment plans.
"Purchasing an island came as a suggestion from one of his disciples after Baba Ramdev purchased a island in Scotland. Though they have an ashram on an 100-acre(??) campus at Los Angeles, they decided to buy an island nearby and build an ashram there. They were negotiating to purchase an island when the controversial tapes were aired on TV,'' an investigating officer said.
Besides Los Angeles, Nityananda has ashrams at four other places in the US. He has 15 ashrams abroad, including ones in Malaysia, Singapore and Brazil. After the controversy broke out, only the Los Angeles and Bidadi ashrams have functioned to their full capacity. Most other ashrams are defunct, investigators say.
The transactions show all the ashrams were donated by Nityananda's disciples. "Even the island project was on similar lines. We suspect that there was a lot of cash transaction in this,'' an officer said.
After the controversy broke out, the godman's ashrams have run into problems. "Most of them have got into litigation. Since they are shown as donations, the donors want their lands back. These include the Bidadi ashram,'' the officer said.

Nithy has ruined many people's life and is still doing it. IT is high time the CID has to put an end to his crime. Let the Almighty punish him to such an extent that nobody ever would try again to do such immoral act.
