Nithyananda - a multimillionaire 'Swami'
Nithyananda has stashed away crores in personal accounts; claims he is NOT a man!
Nithyananda's account has Rs. 32 crores
Chandan Nandy, Bangalore, April 28, DHNS:
The State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) sleuths have stumbled upon a personal bank account of self-styled godman Nithyananda with a leading private sector bank in Bangalore in which he has a whopping total deposit of around Rs 32 crore.
The bank has frozen the account at the behest of the CID which is looking into all the financial transactions –– accounted as well as unaccounted –– of the godman who is now under police custody for interrogation.
At least three other bank accounts where two trusts run by Nithyananda maintain a deposit of around Rs 20-25 crore have already been frozen. The CID is analysing these accounts and the sources of the funds. Efforts are also on to trace whether money from these accounts has been transferred to undisclosed banks abroad.
Nithyananda’s unaccounted money in his personal account is different from the deposits that are in the name of two trusts, Dhyana Peeta Charitable Trust (DPCT), which was registered in 2003, and Nithyananda Dhyanapeeetam Trust (NDT), registered in 2005.
Police sources believe that money was diverted from donations to Nithyananda’s personal account where profits of a company by the name of Nithyananda Imports and Exports, run by his brother Nithyeshwara, alias Gopinath, were also deposited.
Deccan Herald is in possession of some documents which show exports of a large number of idols of Hindu gods and goddesses which were sold at prices 5 to 15 times higher than their cost price. Some of the wire transfers indicate that the profits were moved from Wells Fargo Bank in California to some Indian banks which are now in the process of being identified.
The only trustees of NDT and DPCT are Nithyananda, his secretary T Dhanasekaran, alias Sadhananda, and his wife D Jamunarani, alias Ma Sadhananda.
The last two have disappeared from Nithyananda’s Bidadi ashram since Saturday.
It is learnt from unimpeachable sources that while DPCT filed a tax return of close to Rs 5 crore in the 2009-10 fiscal, NDT’s return reflect a staggering Rs 8.5 crore.
This unusually high return declared by NDT has prompted the Directorate of Income Tax to select it for special scrutiny.
Income Tax officials will officially write to the CID and seek access to documents related to the financial dealings of Nithyananda’s many organisations operating from the United States, Europe, South America and India.
They reckon that there is strong possibility of the I-T department serving show-cause notice to the godman on why the exemption benefits enjoyed by his trusts under 80G and 12A of the I-T Act should not be cancelled. The investigation wing of the I-T department will also likely get into the act to pursue its own enquiries on possible tax evasion by the godman and his organisations in India.
The sources here as well as abroad have disclosed that Nithyananda and some of his closest associates operated at least three hedge funds which operated from the United States, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
The CID is in the process of getting hold of the details of the investment funds as well as obtaining information that in 2008 Nithyananda had plans to outright buy a private island either off the coast of Canada or Indonesia.
His global secretary Sachitananda was tasked with the job of contacting a Germany-based Turkish broker in islands. The money set aside for the island purchase was US$ 5 million.

Nithyananda, the sadhu who reads Cosmopolitan
IBN Live, Tuesday , April 27, 2010
Nithyananda isn't your garden variety swami. He flips through glam magazines, chit-chats with the powerful, and beds the pretty and gullible.
"God's will is always good, acceptable, and perfect. Let's trust God to show us the best and most bountiful way to experience His blessed gift of sex." --Kay Arthur, author of 'Sex According to God: How to Walk with Purity in a World of Temptation'.
They say luck favours the brave. Sometimes it also favours the horny!
Sex swami Nithyananda must be thanking the IPL for saving him from the media gaze. His Indian Sex League (ISL) is juicer than the IPL, but the TV channels were obsessed with the latter.
All kinds of people come to Bangalore. It has all kinds, from saints to sinners. And sinners in the garb of saints.
When Nithyananda landed in Bangalore eight years ago, he was totally unknown. The booming city allowed him to prosper. In three to four years, Nithyananda had become one of this city's many godmen.
Nobody outside his circles really cared about him. But to his devotees, as Karl Marx famously said, religion was opium. Before those hidden cameras caught him in action, he must have had a good time with several of his devotees.
His life was truly "daily bliss" (nitya-ananda) till the channels started airing his exploits eight weeks ago.
I first saw this swami 30,000 feet above ground level two years ago. I was flying from Delhi to Bangalore, and he was in the business class. What caught my eye was the magazine he was reading, and not his saffron robes.
He was flipping through the glam magazine Cosmopolitan!
What is wrong, you ask. Nothing, I say.
The ancient Rigveda says, "Let knowledge come to us from all corners of the world". So what does it matter if he were reading the Cosmopolitan or the Katopanishad!
According to Hinduism, anything can lead to redemption. Some find truth by sleeping, and some by walking naked. Some find it between the sheets!
Like the now disgraced Lalit Modi's IPL, Nithyananda's ISL was an instant hit. Politicians, film stars, businessmen and well-heeled NRIs were thronging his ashram.
He started to believe he was god. Lalit Modi had the same delusion. He really believed he was the god of Indian cricket.
Perhaps for the first time in the world a godman has slept with his women devotees after making them sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA).
Who should be blamed here? This alleged sex maniac in the garb of a holy man or his blind followers? I say both.
Nithyananda was very close to the RSS and other right wing Hindu outfits. Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi had received a princely Rs 2.5 lakh from him in public. Nithyananda was also hobnobbing with political leaders like S M Krishna, B S Yeddyurappa, Dharam Singh, Rameshwar Thakur and even a gentleman like T N Chaturvedi, the former Governor of Karnataka.
Why is nobody asking them tough questions? What were they doing with him? Did they know what was happenning in his bedroom? We must demand explanations.
I once again quote from the Bible because this self appointed protector of Hinduism had thousands of Western devotees who follow Jesus Christ.
As Kay Arthur says, let's go back to the very beginning, to Genesis, the first book in the Bible, to see what God says about sex:
GENESIS 1:25-28
- God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
- God blessed them; and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth."
Nithyananda now has all the time in the world to read everything about our basic instincts. Instead of just rotting in jail, he can concentrate on studying sex and religion. He may find many passages to justify what he did. I will religiously send him a reading list. As our Vedas say, "This body is for the service of mankind."

Nithyananda allegedly smuggled gold from US
Tuesday April 27, 2010, Bangalore
CID sleuths have revealed that Swami Nithyananda would routinely smuggle 24 carat gold weighing several kilograms from the US.
According to the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Swami Nithyananda visited the US quite often. During his visits, he used to carry objects that looked like gold.
"He usually got things made in form of rosaries and sandals that he used to wear while returning to India," reads a DRI letter that was sent to the Bangalore airport authorities, a copy of which is in possession of MiD DAY.
The letter also mentions that Swami Nithyananda misused his image of a spiritual guru to smuggle gold.
According to the officials, the swami believed that he'd be never caught, as the custom officials never bothered to check him when he used to go on spiritual trips.
DRI officials had also issued a look out circular to all the airports soon after sex swami went into hiding.
The DRI sleuths suspect that Nityananda could have used the same technique for smuggling precious stones as well.
Besides, the officials suspect that Ma Nithyananda Gopika, sex swami's personal assistant, helped him in the smuggling racket.

Nithyananda's police custody extended, fakes heart attack!
Nithyananda fakes heart attack to escape interrogation
| Bangalore: April 26, DH News Service | |
| In what appears to be a means to avoid interrogation, arrested self-styled godman Nithyananda on Monday was admitted to hospital near here moments after he was remanded to police custody for two additional days. | |
According to Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology director C N Manjunath, following tests on Nithyananda, it was found that all the parameters were normal. Apart from blood, tests, Nithyananda underwent ECG and ecocardiogram checks. “On Tuesday morning, we will make him undergo treadmill test after which we will take a decision on whether to discharge him or not. He is admitted to the ICU at present,” Manjunath told Deccan Herald.Police sources said that Nithyananda complained of a shooting pain in his chest while on his way to Bangalore from the Ramanagara Judicial Magistrate’s court which remanded him to police custody for two more days. He was produced in the court on Monday afternoon after being in police custody for four days following his arrest in Himachal Pradesh on April 21 and subsequent arrival in Bangalore. Police sources suspect Nithyananda is “feigning” chest pain “for he thinks this was one way to squirm out of the interrogation” which is taking place at the CID headquarters here. For the first two days, he told his interrogators that he did not remember anything relating to the sex video. Later, he is believed to said he “thought he recognised Ranjitha, but not the man (he himself)” featured in the video secretly filmed by a former devotee Lenin Karuppan, alias Dharmananda. On Saturday, Nithyananda is believed to have wept, though he tried to evade questions by giving his customary smile. He, however, stopped smiling when he was asked to do so by his interrogators. “He thought he could use the smile to good effect, but that didn’t work those interrogating him,” police sources said. Several former devotees told Deccan Herald that Nithyananda’s chest pain was “as fake”. One senior devotee said that during most spiritualism classes he would boast of his ability to work ceaselessly for five days at a stretch. He is also believed to have told the police that he was on medicine for treatment of hypertension, which has not been brought out by the tests carried out at the hospital on Monday. | |
Nithyananda's police custody extended by 2 days
Bangalore, Apr 26 (PTI):
A court today extended by two days the police custody of self-styled godman Nityananda Swami, arrested on criminal charges including rape.
Ramanagaram Sessions Court Judge Hungund extended the custody of Nityananda on a plea by the Crime Investigation Department (CID), probing the charges, seeking custody for four more days.
Nityananda, embroiled in a sex scandal, was produced before the Judge amid tight security at the end of expiry of the four-day police custody granted on April 22, a day after he was arrested in Himachal Pradesh.
The CID in its remand application said the statement of victims, Gopika and Ranjitha, had not been recorded and that the police was also awaiting report from Forensic Science Laboratory, Hyderabad, in connection with computer hard discs seized from Nityanand's ashram in Bidadi in Ramanagaram.
Nityananda's counsel H S Chandramouli opposed the CID's plea for extension of police custody.
His close aide Nitya Bhaktananda alias Seelam Reddy, who was also produced in court, was remanded in 14 days judicial custody.
The bail application of Nityananda is likely to be heard by the court on April 29.
Nityananda, who remained elusive for over a month after video clippings purportedly showing him in a compromising position with an actress were aired by TV channels, was nabbed along with his aide in a joint operation by Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh police teams in Solan district on April 21.

More complaints and Investigations await Nithyananda
Nithyananda may be grilled in Pondicherry
P Jonathan Ambrose, 26 Apr 2010
PUDUCHERRY: After Justin Devdoss was brought to Puducherry for interrogation in connection with the JBJ construction scam, it is now the turn of swami Nithyananda. The swami’s second trip to the old French town, after his last visit in January 2009 to offer darshan for his devotees, may not be a patch on the first one.
The police have moved the Puducherry court seeking custody of Nithyananda and he may be brought here next week.
This move came after seven advocates from Puducherry filed a complaint alleging that the Nithyananda ashram on Puducherry outskirts had swindled money from the people in the name of meditations and blessings. A case has been filed under section 402 for cheating and 295 (A), for exploiting the religious feelings of the people.
“The entire Tamil society had suffered an erosion in morality and decency. The swami had received money from the people in the name of religion,” said advocate Aladi Mahendran on Sunday.
Investigation had revealed that during the swami’s visit last year, tokens priced at Rs 1,000 each were issued for a devotee to receive his blessings.
Over 2,000 devotees had attended this worship meeting. Besides, Rs 700 was charged for the weekly meditation classes in the ashram at Eambalam, but no receipts were issued.
US agency seeks info on Nithyananda case progress
MK Madhusoodan / DNA
Monday, April 26, 2010 10:28 IST
Bangalore: Even as the criminal investigation department continued to interrogate the tainted swami, Paramahamsa Nithyananda, a US security agency made “casual” enquiries on the progress of the case.
The US agency, it was learnt, showed interest on getting information related to a complaint filed against the swami in that country. It was also interested in knowing the flow of funds from Nithyananda’s ashram, Dhyanapeetham, in Bidadi, about 35km from Bangalore, according to CID sources.
Douglas McKeller of San Jose, US, had accused Nithyananda of sexually exploiting his devotees, fraud and financial irregularities.
It was suspected that the swami had routed funds to the now-extinct militant organisation, Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, of Sri Lanka. Sources indicated that they would be looking into the self-styled godman’s international connections as well as financial transactions.
The CID would be writing to the central enforcement directorate (customs) to charge cases against Nithyananda under the provisions ofForeign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) and Foreign Exchange Regulatory Act (FERA). “We are not authorised to file cases under FEMA and FERA. So we have decided to write to the directorate of enforcement,” a CID officer said.
The CID had found that Nithyananda and his brother Nityeshwarananda were holding joint accounts in Canara Bank's Ramanagara branch, besides several others in Corporation Bank. The accounts revealed that the duo had received money from foreign countries.
Meanwhile, the director-general of police (CID) BV Guruprasad and DIG Charan Reddy quizzed Nithyananda on Sunday afternoon. The swami was cooperating with the investigation.
Nithyananda underwent medical examination on Sunday morning at the CID headquarters here. The interrogation started around 10 am. The arrested swami had lunch, brought from the Bidadi ashram, around 1.45 pm.
The CID would produce him before the Ramanagara chief judicial magistrate on Monday, to seek a four days’ extension of his police remand.
Nithyananda would also be taken to his Bidadi ashram to collect evidence. Sources in the CID said the swami would be travelling under tight security.

Nithyananda to be investigated for money laundering
| Bangalore April 24 DH News Service | |
| Self-styled godman Nithyananda is likely to be interrogated by the Enforcement Directorate and booked under Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA). | |
| CID sleuths interrogating Nithyananda at their Bangalore headquarters are almost convinced that Nithyananda is involved in a series of money deals abroad. His foreign donations, investments and assets are sure to come under the scanner. “We are aware that none of the cases Nithyananda is facing is going to hold water, but he is sure to be grilled and cornered under the Money Laundering Act. So, we will apprise the Government and seek ED’s interference," said a senior officer. Director General (CID) Guruprasad quizzed Nithyananda for more than two hours. Nithyananda was rolling the rudrakshi beads and answering the questions. For the last two days, he did not co-operate with the police. Later, a marathon review meeting was held and the officers involved in the investigations presented their updated papers. At the time of his arrest in Himachal Pradesh, Nithyananda was carrying $7,000 and during interrogation he failed to give a convincing answer and reveal the source. It is clear that the godman has not taken any sanctions from the Government of India. On Monday, Nithyananda will be produced before the court and, if need be, the cops will request for an extension of his police custody. | |

STAND UP FOR DHARMA
Dear Friends,
Like me, many of you have followed Nithyananda blindly, accepting whatever he had to say and giving up your life and wealth to him and his mission. Fortunately, i came across evidence to show that he was not he claimed to be. His entire self and mission were built on lies, and now lie in ruins.
Now knowing these facts, many of his senior acharyas, organizers and also ordained brahmacharis and sanyasis have moved away from him, both in India and USA, because they have lost faith in him. Nithyananda should be called Mithyananda, because whatever he said and did was based on falsehood. Because of him, many people have now lost faith in the Vediic tradition and the entire concept of Self Realization or Enlightenment. What he has done claiming to be an enlightened being has traumatized many people.
Here is a biography of his lies.
1. Nithyananda claimed in his authorized biography that he was born on 1 January 1978, in the Tamil month of Margazhi, in Chitra nakshatra, Kanya rasi, ashtami tithi in kanya lagna. We went to the panchang and nothing matched on this date. You can also google and find out.
Nithyananda's passport says he was born on 13 march 1977. None of his astrological details match this date also. So it was a fictional date and a fictional birth. The problem is that the Government of India can prosecute him for false date of birth given for passport and he can be barred forever from USA and other countries.
What about the prediction by his family astrologer that he will be a raja sanyasi? If he is still alive we can talk to him.
Nithyananda says in his biography that based on these very auspicious signs of his birth, he is an incarnation. He has claimed to be an avatar. Why would an avatar lie about his birth?
Now his ashram inmates are circulating nadi, or palm leaf, predictions, to prove his avatarhood. Trouble is that these nadis are all being manufactured by local entrepreneurs in Vaidheeswaran Koil. SUN TV which broke his mission also carried a documentary on the palm leaf predictions. Those too are mithya!
2. Nithyananda's basis for his spiritual quest was the 'enlightenment' at the age of 12 following an initiation by Annamalai Swamigal in Thiruvannmalai. If this was true, it must have left a deep impression on Annamalai Swamigal. But the detailed biography of Annamalai Swamigal by David Godman makes no mention of any child prodigy who met him. It was all in the mind of young Rajasekaran.
3. Nithyananda has spoken with tears in his eyes about his encounter with Arunagiri Yogeshwara, a fellow avatar. It is true that Ramana Maharishi had made references to Arunagiri Yogi. Perhaps Nithyananda's fertile imagination built a fairy tale around this reference along with the banyan tree, which we shall touch upon later. Nithyananda says he was given a saffron robe by this avatar and that no laboratory could analyse this fabric. The Police , we are sure, will be quickly able to do a forensic analysis and determine its miraculous origin.
4. Nithyananda has claimed that he was in parivrajaka or monastic wandering for nine years till his enlightenment. Parivrajaka means that one cannot stay for more than 3 days in any one location. When questioned, his ashram inner circle clarified that he started this at the age of 12 after his 'enlightenment' experience. Given that his age is a lie and the experience at 12 is another lie, is this also a lie?
Surely. Ramakrishna Ashram has records to show that a young Rajasekaran was with them for 4 years from 1996 till 2000. Till 1996 he was in a polytechnic studying. It must have been a very powerful parivrjaka indeed, perhaps wandering in his school, college and later in an ashram. We have a different name for such wanderers.
5. Now the bombshell. Nithyananda says he was enlightened on 1 January 2000 in the forests of Omkareshwar after 6 days of intense unclutching from Christmas day when he walked across the raging Narmada river.
If he was in Ramakrishna Ashram, did he have another body? Or was this 'enlightenment' another hoax? Or was he studying tantric sex somewhere?
None of these details are my creation. Factual records are available to support each point. But then, Nithyananda will say that his version is truth, not fact. That is why he is Mithyananda.
6. Let us now come to the foundation of his mission in 2002 or 2003. It is all about a poor banyan tree. Nithyananda says he had a vision to establish his mission and ashram under a banyan tree. His true Hanuman, read Danasekaran, then identified the tree in Bidadi. Nithyananda claimed that the Bidadi banyan tree is 650 years old. Problem is that the Police found the guy who planted this tree in Bidadi and he is only 70 years old! Perhaps the tree suffered from progeria like Amitabh Bachan did in Paa!
7. Nithyananda also said that the muneeswara buried under this tree came in the dream of the land owner and told him to gift the land to him. But a little bird told us in our waking state that Danasekaran alias Ayya paid cash to 'buy' the land but show it as gift. Convenient for both parties. Perhaps something here for tax people.
The Muneeswara became a swayambu linga, which in turn became Anadeshwara that in turn became the marble statue of Mithyananda!
8. Nithyananda claimed he was spreading the Vedic mind through his yogic body by establishing temples all over the world. Good thought and also very profitable. With his henchmen in Chennai and Thiruvannamalai, he created temple material and exported them at a huge margin through his private company nithyananda imports & exports. Who ran this company? His brother!
You may not know that running a temple is very good business but Nithyananda and his brother knew. It is also the best way to launder black money and also if needed to create cash. The Vedic mind was very sharp!
9. All what i have outlined till now is a fairy tale compared to what he did once the mission was established.
We have documents from 2005 that ashramites were made to sign for living and learning with the master. The voluntary signatories of these documents, which are semi-legal contractual agreements preventing those who signed from disclosing anything, agree to have sex with the master and others designated by him. The process will also include photography, videography etc guaranteed to provide spiritual ecstasy through sexual tantric practices. We are informed that in addition to the master, some key disciples may also enjoyed his privileges.
Contents of these documents have been published in English and vernacular newspapers and blogs. The documents are also with the Police.
Nithyananda's modus operandi was simple. Once he identified an attractive woman, or less often a male, one of his key disciples would send the girl to his inner chamber, ostensibly to massage his legs. The contact became closer after that. He would tell them that he was an avatar, a Shiva , a Krishna, and through union with him they would experience enlightenment. In technical terms, this was rape, since the woman was in no position to resist the sexual advances of the man who she had till then considered God. It was a hypnotic union. Once the job was done, the key disciples would ensure that the victim signed the non disclosure documents, in case that had not happened yet.
a very simple, but effective strategy, that some times was repeated several times a day. Several dozen women were victims and are still traumatized.
Was Nithyananda running an ashram or a perverted school for prostitution? What were the ashramites thinking when they signed these documents? Were they even aware of what they were signing? What would you do if your daughter, sister, wife, mother or friend was in the Nithyananda ashram?
Nithyananda also ran a gurukulam school for young children inside the ashram. Does your mind boggle?
10. People ask me why i have not gone public with information about other women or even men who had relations with Nithyananda the same way as SUN TV publicly displayed the Ranjitha videos. (Incidentally Nithyananda had told many senior followers who he called up from hiding to confirm that the SUN TV videos were true, while his ashram henchmen were still in denial mode.)
i am silent because i have related to these women and men as sisters, brothers and friends, who i respected and loved. I do not see any reason why they should suffer more than what they have suffered in the hands of Nithyananda. It is up to them as individuals to go to the Police if they wish to.
Would you have done differently if you were related to these victims, even if your blood boiled?
11. Nithyananda went into hiding once the videos were aired. Why, if he was innocent? He ran away like a common criminal, fearing for his life. When some senior religious leaders advised him to go on a true parivrajaka, he said, ' do you want me to die? do you think i will survive?'
When arrested he had enough money that would have kept an ordinary man in comfort for 5 years.
Do you still believe him? Do you still believe that all the kalpatarus at 1000 rupees and padapujas at 25000 rupees and house visits at one lac rupees had any truth or sanctity behind them. With great difficulty his mission's spin doctors found twenty people to give testimonials about these hyped up events. For every person who believed to have benefited, a hundred people were cheated.
If you were one of them who gave away money and feel cheated please stand up and complain to the Police. Cheating and defrauding people of money, even if it is only Rs 1000, based on false promises to provide wealth, health, relationship, success or peace is a crime, punishable under Section 420 as a cognizable non bailable offense.
Even if 10 people stand up and complain about how they were defrauded by Nithyananda, he can be put away. He will not have the chance to ruin the life of another wife, daughter, sister, mother or friend.
If after all this, you still believe that he is an enlightened being and god, it is your decision. But to me and many others who have studied the evidence against him, he is just a fraud and sex addict. He needs treatment in a correctional mental asylum.
He is an ordinary man, who acquired some powers that he misused. Now he has been arrested and the law will follow its course. If he had been anything more special, nothing like this would have happened. Many people may have been afraid of him so far. There is nothing to be afraid of a common criminal.
Please stand up and do what you believe as dharma! That will help this Vedic religion of Hinduism.
Please circulate this as widely as you can. The more number of people read this, the more intelligently they can make their choices. Please help.
With deep respect for your intelligence and concern for your welfare
Dharmananda @ Lenin

Nithyananda may lose his ashram land
Chandan Nandy, Bangalore, April 23, DH News Service:
The Ramanagara district administration has initiated proceedings to identify the land-related violations that arrested self-proclaimed godman Nithyananda committed after procuring the 22-acre property over which he built the Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam ashram in Bidadi near here.
The action began a couple of weeks ago after a report by the Bidadi tahsildar addressed to Ramanagara Deputy Commissioner G L Chandrashekharaiah and the Assistant Commissioner identified two clear violations of specific provisions of the Karnataka Land Reforms Act, 1961 and the Karnataka Land Revenue Act, 1964.
According to the report, Nithyananda, who is the sole owner of the 22-acre land in Bidadi, violated Sections 79A and B of the Karnataka Land Reforms Act, 1961 which states that "no person other than a person cultivating land personally shall be entitled to hold land."
The land over which his ashram has been built is solely owned by Nithyananda who is not an agriculturist. Further, he has also violated Section 95 of the 1964 Act. Section 95 states that a person who is not a farmer cannot hold agricultural land in his/her name.
Tahsildar’s report
The Ramanagara Deputy Commissioner will soon begin action by way of hearings in which Nithyananda's lawyers will have to prove that there was no violation of the laws. Failure to do so could invite punishment in the form forfeiture of the land, summary removal, eviction and payment of fine.
The tahsildar's report states that Nithyananda has also violated Section 95 because he constructed buildings for purposes other than agriculture.
The buildings are in the form of apartment blocks which were advertised to be sold for Rs 6-8 lakhs to devotees.
The godman's plan included building a health club, an ayurvedic spa, a department store and pharmacy, a recreation centre, a library, an open-air amphitheatre, laundro-mats, landscape garden, a swimming pool and a creek and lake 'flowing through the contours of the ashram'.
He had not taken permission from the Ramanagara Deputy Commissioner to build these facilities.
What makes the violations serious is that the land over which the ashram is built is solely in the name of Nithyananda and not registered under Dhyana Peeta Charitable Trust. The land donors have slapped a legal notice on Nithyananda, demanding its return.
‘Move vacation Bench’
The High Court, hearing the Nithyananda episode, on Friday permitted the petitioner to move the vacation bench in case of urgency.
Hearing the petition filed by Nithyananda, Justice Arali Nagraj adjourned the matter to May 28, 2010.
However, the court granted the liberty to the petitioner to approach the vacation bench in case he feels the urgency.

Nithyananda's Sex Contract Revealed
Sleaze swami's secret sex contract revealed
Abhir V P, CNN-IBN
Posted on Apr 23, 2010 at 15:07
Bangalore: Self-styled godman Swami Nityananda, who is under arrest for obscenity and other charges, made his followers sign contracts to learn and practice tantrik sex secrets and prohibited them for revealing this.
CNN-IBN has accessed copies of a non-disclosure agreement that his followers were made to sign, prohibiting them from divulging details about the “sex contract”.
The document was seized by the state’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) while searching the at his ashram (learning centre) in Bidadi, Karnataka. The contract says that “volunteers” would use “sexual energy for increased intimacy/spiritual connection, pleasure, harmony and freedom”.
The document says “activities” during the programme would include nudity and erotica.
"Volunteer understands that the program may involve the learning and practise of ancient tantric secrets associated with male and female ecstasy including use of sexual energy for increased intimacy/spiritual connection, pleasure, harmony and freedom. Volunteer understands that these activities could be physically and mentally challenging and may involve nudity, assess to visual images, graphic visual depictions and descriptions of nudity and sexual activity, close physical proximity and intimacy, verbal and written descriptions and audio sounds of a sexually oriented and erotic nature, etc.
Nityananda then prohibited the volunteers from revealing the programme or naming him for it. “By reading and signing this addendum, volunteer irrevocably acknowledges that he/she is voluntarily giving his unconditional acceptance of such activities and discharges the Leader and Foundation and anyone else not specifically mentioned here but directly or indirectly involved in the organization, management or conduct of any such programs from any liability, direct or indirect, arising from such activities."
Nityananda and four of his aides were arrested in a Himachal Pradesh village on Wednesday and flown to Bangalore the next day. He is charged with obscenity, criminal intimidation, rape and hurting religious sentiments in Karnataka.

Nithyananda goes into lock-up with laboured grin
Nithyananda produced before court; remanded to police custody in Bangalore
Chandan Nandy and Sangeeta Samuel, Bangalore, April 22, DH News Service:
Nithyananda being brought to the City from Solan in Himachal Pradesh on Thursday. dh photo
When he did emerge, hands folded in a ‘namaste’, a rudraksh-bead necklace dangling from his wrist, and a cosmetic grin that for seven years was worn to charm hundreds, Nithyananda’s gaunt visage and his eyes could not conceal the fear and confusion.
By his right was his bespectacled US head of operations, Gopal Sheelum Reddy, alias Bhaktananda (described by a number of former devotees as ‘Rowdy Swami’), also arrested in CID’s stealth operation at Solan in Himachal Pradesh. Reddy is a green card holder and a resident of California.
As Nithyananda, dressed in a saffron robe under which he wore a saffron singlet, took a few steps out of Gate 7, chaos broke loose.
A battery of journalists, photographers, visitors to the airport and the police jostled with each other as plainclothes cops tried to make way for the godman to walk past.
In the utter pandemonium, when Deccan Herald asked Nithyananda whether he regretted it all, the godman stared but did not respond. One US-based NRI devotee who had met Nithyananda at the godman’s hideout told Deccan Herald over phone “the swami was without remorse for what he had done”.
Along with Gopal Reddy, the godman was bundled into a waiting car which sped away toward Ramanagara where he was first taken to the district government hospital for a simple, customary physical examination before being produced in court. The Judicial Magistrate remanded him to police custody for four days. Nithyananda and Reddy were later driven to the CID headquarters in the City and lodged in a lock-up.
The Karnataka CID clarified that only Nithyananda and Reddy were arrested in Wednesday’s raid while three other devotees, who were detained on Thursday, were taken to the Bidadi ashram. The three, however, will be called by the CID for further examination.
Nithyananda’s bete noir Lenin Karuppan, alias Dharmananda, who exposed the godman’s sexcapades with a Tamil actress, will arrive here Friday evening.
Nithyananda, Reddy, the three devotees and the CID team flew here on Kingfisher flight 107 (from Mumbai) that touched down at BIA at 6:40 pm.
Their luggage, comprising several suitcases, three laptops, three video cameras, backpacks and a bundle of documents, seized in Wednesday’s raid, were moved out in three cart-loads.
Police sources said after being arrested at Shivshankargarh village under Arki police station, Himachal Pradesh, on Wednesday, the accused persons were moved to Shimla. On Thursday morning, they were taken by road to Chandigarh from where they took a flight to Mumbai via Delhi. In all, the godman, arrested on several criminal charges, and his associates, were in air for a good seven hours before they landed here.
The interrogation of Nithyananda and Reddy by the CID will begin on Friday. The police will also analyse the laptops and the five SIM cards seized from the duo’s possession to find out leads for their case.
Police sources said the laptops and SIM cards are likely to yield “valuable information”.
The police are aware of the several calls Reddy made on behalf of Nithyananda to people in the US, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The police suspect that threat emails were sent out to some influential NRI former devotees in the US. One of the three associates is suspected to have made calls to an Andhra Pradesh-based devotee in a bid to “blackmail” him into silence.

From plush environs to lock-up
Bangalore, April 21, DHNS:
Far from the sprawling acres at Bidadi, the gold-plated thrones, gold rudraksh-bead necklaces, soft-cushioned beds and the presence of female attendants, a 5 x 8 square feet lock-up awaits Nithyananda at the CID headquarters here.
The “sleaze godman,” who faces charges of rape, unnatural sex, cheating, criminal intimidation, criminal conspiracy and hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus, will be lodged in the lock-up which is being refurbished for him.
The toilet, with tiled floor, that he will share with four other arrested associates is being cleaned. The commode and wash basin are being tidied up and the bathroom fittings are being redone.
As soon as he is brought to Bangalore on Thursday, he will be produced at the Ramanagara court. If he is given police custody, Nithyananda will be driven straight to the CID headquarters and dumped into the lock-up. An adjoining second lock-up (also 5 x 8 square feet) is being cleaned up for lodging the godman’s four associates, one of them being Gopal Sheelum Reddy, alias Bhaktananda, the head of Nithyananda’s operations in the United States.
The lock-up has no television but is large enough to hold one person. It has a simple cot with a pillow.
Food, of course, will be provided by the CID. Next to this lock-up is the interrogation room where he will be grilled by a team of CID officers. The interrogation chamber has all modern equipment, including a one-way mirror from which officers will be able to monitor the proceedings inside. The chamber is also fitted with a CCTV camera.

NITHYANANDA ARRESTED (FINALLY!!) IN HIMACHAL
Deccan Herald News
Nithyananda arrested
Godman nabbed from his HP hideout; to be flown in today
Chandigarh, Apr 21, DH News Service:
Nearly two months after being in hiding following the expose of his sex romp with a Tamil actress in his Bidadi ashram near Bangalore, self-styled godman Nithyananda was arrested in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh along with four other associates on Wednesday afternoon.
Nithyananda’s hideout in Shivshankargarh village under Arki police station was busted in a meticulously planned joint operation by a Karnataka-Himachal Pradesh CID team. The sleuths seized Rs 3 lakh and $7,000 in cash, three laptops, three video cameras, seven cell phone handsets, five SIM cards and a host of documents from the house in which the four were holed up for over a month.
The four associates of Nithyananda have been identified as Gopal Sheelum Reddy, alias Bhaktananda, who heads Nithyananda’s so-called spiritual and healing foundations in the US, Nithya Sanatanananda, Arpit Sangil, who briefly headed the godman’s Singapore ashram, and Arun Raj.
In another blow to Nithyananda, the godman’s anticipatory bail was rejected by the Ramanagara district court near Bangalore. In the case Nithyananda filed in the Karnataka High Court, seeking quahing of investigations against him, the single judge bench of Justice Arali Nagaraj directed the police to submit all records in respect of the arrest and status of the probe.
Two days back, a Sriperumbudur court near Chennai had issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Nithyananda.
Vital clues on the godman’s whereabouts came from a cell phone number whose SIM card originated in an UP town. His precise location was detected near Sayri and Mamlig cell phone towers which indicated the movement of the accused persons in Mamlig panchayat.
Following this discovery, some plainclothes police men were deployed in the area.
The police monitored the calls, several of which were made to numbers in California and different parts of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, and zeroed-in on Shivshankargarh village. Following door-to-door enquiries, the team knocked on the doors of the house in which the five had taken shelter. Nithyananda was attired in saffron robes and his four associates were also present when they were told they were under arrest.
Preliminary examination of the laptops, which had wireless Internet facility, indicate that some threat emails were sent out to persons in the US.
Solan Superintendent of Police Prem Thakur said the district police received information from the Karnatka CID concerning Nithyananda’s movement in the area on April 19.
Police sources said, a two-member Karnataka CID team comprising two deputy superintendents of police left for Solan three days back before teaming up with Himachal Pradesh CID sleuths. The Karnataka CID team was led by DSP N S Hussain. After cordoning off the “target” house, the slueths arrested the godman and his four devotees in a three-hour-long operation.
The four were later taken to Shimla for interrogation. Karnataka CID additional director general of police R V Guruprasad said the five arrested persons will be brought to Bangalore early Thursday evening. But the five will be produced before a Solan or Shimla court where the sleuths will seek a transit warrant for them to be taken to Bangalore.
Earlier, the Karnataka police had registered cases against Nithyananda on the charges of rape, committing unnatural sex, criminal intimidation, criminal conspiracy, cheating, deliberate and malicious act intended to outrage the religious sentiments under sections 295 A, 376, 377, 420, 506(1) and 120 of the Indian Penal Code.

Bangalore's "Sex Swami" Nityanand has been arrested a long way from home - in Himachal Pradesh's Solan district.
Nityanand was arrested in Arki by the Bangalore Police, who had sought the help of the Himachal Police. Police said at the time of arrest, the swami had Rs 3 lakh in Indian currency and 2000 dollars in travellers' cheques. (Read: Swamis in scandals - What keeps the faith?)
The self-styled swami would be produced before a local magistrate in Himachal Pradesh and then would be taken to Bangalore.
The controversial swami has been at large ever since television channels aired video clippings purportedly of him and a Tamil actress in a compromising situation. (Read: Swami's alleged sex CD sells for Rs 1,000)
Cases of rape, criminal intimidation and cheating among others have since been filed against the Godman based on various complaints. His ashram had been searched and hard disks seized were being examined, the police said. On allegations of rape against the swami, they appealed to victims to come out and give evidence.
The swami's ashram has maintained that there is a "conspiracy" to malign Nityananda's reputation and have said that the video footage telecast by TV channels was morphed.
After the sex tape surfaced, Nityananda's supporters issued this statement: "At this moment we feel that a mix of conspiracy, graphics and rumour are at play in these recent events that have unfolded. We are working on a legal course of action...In these trying times, we wish to reassure the lakhs of devotees and well-wishers whose sentiments have been deeply hurt by this conspiracy. We thank all the devotees and disciples for standing with us during these trying times."
Nityananda had recently announced that he was quitting as the head of his ashram in Karnataka and associated trusts to lead a life of 'spiritual seclusion'. Nithyananda's Ashram is about 19 kilometres outside Bangalore, where he was based and was attacked by an angry crowd.
He allegedly has 11 different ashrams in India, and close to 2 million followers all over the world. (Read: Sex Swami has property worth crores?)

Arrest Warrant issued for Nithyananda!!
Deccan Herald
Chennai, Apr 19, DHNS:
A local court in Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu on Monday issued a non-bailable warrant to arrest the controversial godman Nithyananda as the self-styled spiritual leader failed to respond to several summons issued by it.
The case filed by a local resident demanded action against him for “betraying and cheating” his devotees and acting in a manner that profoundly hurt Hindu religious sentiments. The petitioner, Selvamani, had moved the civil and criminal court in Sriperumbudur, last month in the wake of the expose by a Tamil TV channel. Subsequently, Nithyananda had to step down from the trust of the Nithyananda Dhyana Peetam in Bangalore .
Despite the court having issued summons to appear before it in recent weeks, Nithyananda has been on the run and his whereabouts are yet to be firmly known. In this backdrop, the judge directed issuance of a non-bailable warrant to arrest the godman and produce him in the court on May 20, the sources said.
A directive to this effect has been issued to the Ramnagar DSP in Karnataka as the cases against Nithyananda under various IPC sections, including cheating and alleged rape, have all been transferred by TN Police to the Karnataka Police. The Sriperumbudur court said Nithyananda has to be produced before it on May 20.

Nithyananda’s Los Angeles temple closes down
Ashrams in Malaysia, Singapore also shut shop
Chandan Nandy, Bangalore, Apr 16, DHNS:
In what could be a severe body blow to self-proclaimed godman Nithyananda, in hiding since the sex scandal surrounding him broke last month, three of his cult organisation's foundations abroad have closed down.
One of the biggest money-spinners, the so-called Vedic Temple in Los Angeles in the United States, has sent out e-mails to all senior devotees announcing that “Beginning on Saturday, April 17, the Nithyananda Vedic Temple will be closed to the public.”
Less than a week ago, a spokesman for the godman's Gombak Ashram in Malaysia, K Murthy, declared that the centre had halted all its activities and that the office bearers there were prepared to cooperate with the Karnataka CID in its investigations against the criminal cases against Nithyananda. The CID has already sent notices to the Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam asking the godman to appear before the sleuths for being examined.
Former devotees told Deccan Herald that the Singapore ashram and related institutions have also taken the decision to close down. However, the biggest blow to Nithyananda and some of his associates is the decision by the Los Angeles temple administration which conveyed its "deepest thanks" to devotees for "patronage over the years." But it indicated that the temple might re-open, though not as part of Nithyananda's Dhyanapeetam. The temple came up in 2007 when a California-based NRI Popat Savla took up the burden to pay off the $2.5 million mortgage.
Power struggle
Since the scandal broke on March 2, there was an intense power struggle among two groups of devotees attached to the Los Angeles ashram and the Vedic Temple. It appears that the view of the group opposed to Nithyananda for his alleged sexual indiscretions with male and female devotees, moral turpitude and "cheating" in the name of spirituality and healing have prevailed over a minority that still supports Nithyananda.
It is learnt that two close Nithyananda associates Gopal Sheelum Reddy, alias Bhaktananda, and Shiva Vallabhaneni, alias Sachitananda, may return to Los Angeles to wrest back control of the temple. But the CID sleuths probing the case may not allow them to leave the Bidadi ashram where their presence is required from the point of view of the investigation.

Sexual abuse by Nithyananda's senior disciples also!
Interview in Nakkeran from an Ex-Bhramacharini Part I
http://shockan.blogspot.com/2010/04/shockan.html
Not only Nithyananda sexually exploited ashramites but other senior 'Anandas' in the ashram also did the same. I went to the ashram seeking spiritual practice and became a Bhramacharini but they used me as a sex toy for the 'Anandas'.
The Bhramacharini started narrating the attrocities that happened to her.
The Ananda has name synonymous with the word 'Knowledge' and he is the main guy who compiles/writes nithyananda books.
This 'Ananda' called me suddenly at midnight once. He said, "I don't have the mood for writing now, come and sit next to me" and put his hands on me on places I can't tell. I got angry and walked out from there.
I went to Nithyananda next day and told him what happened. Nithyananda replied to me telling, "Do what he says, you will advance soon". I was shocked by Nithyananda's response. The same night, the 'Ananda' called me to his room. He told, "Are you trying to complain behind my back to Swami? You know, Swami cannot do anything. I know all about his secrets and the leelas, so Swami cannot do anything to me. If you behave properly, I'll get you a very important post in the ashram, otherwise, I'll tell everyone that you are a thief and shame you in public." Then he started hugging me and said "It's only good for you to adjust with me". I asked him "Can you do this non-sense by wearing saffron-robe?"
He answered me saying, "Do you know the story of Krishna and Sisubalan" and started removing my clothes. "There is a story in Bhagavad Gita. Sisubalan thought that he was also enlightened like Krishna and told the Gopikas I'll give enlightenment to you by enjoying with you. Krishna had his own gopikas and did the same but still Krishna has a good name and Sisubalan has a bad name. So a sannyasi asked Vyasa muni 'Krishna is doing the same as Sisubalan, so why everyone is telling that Sisubalan is wrong while Krisha's activities are called as MadhuraBhavam?' Ananda says in middle "Do you know what is MadhuraBhavam? It is seeing God as a lover; i.e. rasa leela. Rasa leela means the drama conducted by God. So coming back, Vyasa replied, "The Gopikas knew that Krishna was enlightened, so the relation that gopikas had with Krishna was based on knowledge/Gyana. The gopikas did this to attain the state of god or enlightenment. But the relationship the other gopikas had with Sisubalan (non-enlightened person) was a mortal relationship and so it's wrong". Also having relationship with enlightened beings is a way to turn yourself into god said Vyasa. This is how the Ananda completed the story.
"This is how the 'Anandas' tell some story or the other and cheat the Bhramacharini's" she said and ended her sad story.
Interview in Nakkeran from an Ex-Bhramacharini Part II
http://shockan.blogspot.com/2010/04/shockan.html
She also told a story about another woman..."She used to be very stylish, more beautiful than a cinema heroine. Her father is a homeopathy doctor, she also knew little about homeopathy treatment. She came to the ashram to do service. If anybody had muscle pains, she used to do massage treatments and cure them. She was also targeted by the 'Ananda' I mentioned before. She never fell for it. So the 'Ananda' started harassing her by shouting at her in public about the work she did etc. The 'Ananda' had an assistant whose name started with 'SU'. She was like his right hand (wo)man. So the 'Ananda' gave her the assignment to get the doctor's daughter for him.
This 'Ananda' sang praises about the 'SU' assistant to Nithyananda whenever he got a chance and got her a good position in the ashram. So with this position, the 'SU' assistant tried to brain wash the doctor's girl but she never fell for it. The assistant got angry and made her work at the cow barn (goshala). The girl had to take care of cleaning the cow dung, getting milk early in the morning from cow etc.The girl even did the job by thinking that in Hinduism, doing a service to a cow is like serving god.
The same night the 'Ananda' called the girl and told "Can a Goddess (Devathai) like you clean cow dung with your hands? Just accept my wishes, I'll make sure you get great respect in this ashram". After sometime the girl was never found in Bidadi. Later only I came to know that this girl got transfered to Salem ashram due to this 'Ananda' since she did not cooperate with him.
The same 'Ananda' also sent another girl out of the ashram by giving her 'Prostitute' title since she did not cooperate with him. This girl who came to learn meditation fell in love with the Viruthachalam organizer's son. This guy is from Dubai and they fell love when he came to the ashram. But the 'Ananda' already had his eyes on her and started his games with her. She told the 'Ananda' that she is in love with another guy and to leave her alone. She told that she wanted to marry the guy and leave the ashram.
The 'Ananda' told that "the guy will never know if you are with me just for a day, so take it easy". The girl refused, started crying and ran away from him. The 'Ananda' immediately called the guy's father and told him that the girl (whom his son is going to marry) used to be a prostitute in Hyderabad and is of bad character. When the girl came to know about this, she cried all day and did not even eat. But the guy who she loved was a very good man and had much confidence in her, so they eventually got married and ran away from Nithyananda and ashram.
Like this, there was another girl from Bangalore who loved a guy named 'Kiran' who came to meditation workshop. When Nithyananda and this 'Ananda' came to know about this, they tried several things on them, but somehow the pair left the ashram
Next, I'll tell more about the music studio team and their games in the ashram.
What would you usually expect to see in a music studio? You would think musical instruments, but in the ashram's music studio, but you could see strips and strips of birth control pills!
I'll tell more about this later.....

Nithyananda involved in 'illegal' activities, evidence found
Godman’s tantra sex practices exposed
Chandan Nandy, Bangalore, Apr 12, DHNS:
Self-styled godman Nithyananda was for long involved in several kinds of perversions, including tantra sex and viewing of pornography with select male and female ashramites at his Bidadi ashram.
Deccan Herald is in possession of a document, described as a “confidential, non-disclosure agreement”, signed between one Ma Nithyasadhananda, alias D Jamunarani, and a female ashramite whose identity is not being revealed for legal reasons.
Copies of this document are now in the possession of the Karnataka CID which is investigating criminal cases, including rape and unnatural sex, against Nithyananda. The ashramite signed this document on September 3, 2005.
According to the 10-page document, “Volunteer understands that the Program may involve the learning and practice of ancient tantric secrets associated with male and female ecstasy, including the use of sexual energy for increased intimacy/spiritual connection, pleasure, harmony, and freedom”.
Details
The document says: “Volunteer understands that these activities (tantra sex) could be physically and mentally challenging, and may involve nudity, access to visual images, graphic visual depictions, and descriptions of nudity and sexual activity, close physical proximity and intimacy, verbal and written descriptions and audio sounds of a sexually oriented, and erotic nature, etc.”
It is understood that no less than 25 such documents were signed by various male and female ashramites as agreements between them and Nithyananda. The document continues that “By reading and signing the addendum, Volunteer irrevocably acknowledges that he/she is voluntarily giving his unconditional acceptance of such activities and discharges the Leader (Nithyananda) and the Foundation, and anyone else not specifically mentioned here but directly or indirectly involved in the organization, management, or conduct of any such programs from any liability, direct or indirect, arising from such activities”.
Nithyananda has not denied the existence of such a document(s). The agreement is not a legal document in that it was not signed on by the two persons as part of an affidavit or on stamp paper that could have some legal sanctity.
But the document says: “Volunteer also waives any and all rights that he/she may have to bring any law suit or claims against the Leader or Foundation or anyone else not specifically mentioned here, but directly or indirectly involved in the management and conduct of the program”.
‘Forbidden by law’
Former devotee Lenin Karuppan, who exposed Nithyananda’s sexcapades, has alleged that devotees were subjected to sexual and other forms of physical and verbal abuse by the godman.
Speaking to Deccan Herald senior advocate M T Nanaiah said, “such a document constitutes an agreement between two parties” but “tantra, and especially tantra sex, is forbidden by law. These acts are outside the purview of law and therefore illegal”.
‘Nithyananda Swamiji used to watch porn films’: Report
More reports have appeared in the media exposing perversions of Paramahamsa Nithyananda Swamiji, founder of Dhyanapeetham, with one of its establishments in Bidadi near Banaglore. He was in the habit of viewing pornography with select male and female inmates of his Ashram in Bidadi, reports said.
A document, copies of which are learnt to be in the possession of State CID, is said to contain description of incidents of rape and unnatural sex involving the self-styled Godman. An ashramite with undisclosed identity is said to have signed the document as far back as 2005.
The 10-page document is reported to quote the ashramite saying: “Volunteer understands that the programme may involve the learning and practice of ancient tantric secrets associated with male and female ecstasy, including use of sexual energy for increased intimacy, spiritual connection, pleasure, harmony and freedom.”
It further quotes the ashramite saying: “Volunteer understands that these activities (tantra sex) could be physically and mentally challenging, and may involve nudity, close physical proximity and intimacy and audio sounds of sexually oriented, erotic nature”.
Tantra sex was forbidden by law and illegal, senior advocate M.T. Nanaiah was quoted in the report as saying.

Nithyananda’s US donors want their millions back
| Chandan Nandy, Apr 8, Bangalore: | |
| A number of rich California-based non-resident Indians (NRIs), who donated huge sums of money and property to self-proclaimed godman Nithyananda, are now feeling cheated and demanding return of their gifts, grants and contributions. | |
| In the light of the revelations made in the now infamous video that shows Nithyananda in a compromising position with a Tamil actress, one of the main donors, Popat Savla, an American citizen living in Montclair, California, has told Nithyananda's senior associates in no uncertain terms that he wants his $2.5 million donation back. Some of the NRIs Deccan Herald spoke to are appalled at the manner in which they were cheated and are now planning to file complaints in the US against Nithyananda and some of his close associates, including T Dhanasekaran, alias Sadhananda, alias Aiyya, who, among other duties, was tasked with "de-programming" the mind of devotees. Speaking to Deccan Herald over phone, Savla, a realtor, said: "After the video, which I am convinced shows Nithyananda having sex with a woman, I am now not inclined to believe some of his other fake claims he made to devotees in the US to give an impression he was in the same league as some of India's other more famous godmen." Savla explained that during a 2007 visit to Montclair, Nithyananda showed interest in a 30,000 square feet plot of land over which there was located a Greek Orthodox church. "He purchased the property for $2.5 million on mortgage which I took the responsibility of settling," Savla told. The NRI, who has demanded that the Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam return his contribution, said that other Indians living in California and other parts of the US, are now disillusioned and feel cheated. "All of us want our money, which is in millions of dollars, back," Savla said. It is learnt that from his hiding place Nithyananda, till last week in Nepal, called up some of these rich Indians and tried to give them inducements to stay on with his organisation. The NRIs have told him in clear terms that they have nothing to do with his cult organisation. What has hurt devotees in the US as well as in India are his "lies" and "fake" claims that he performed the Mahabhishekham at the Mahavira's statute in Shravanabelgola in 2007, that he was gifted a pair of golden 'padukas' by Sri Sathya Sai Baba of Puttaparthi on Gurupurnima three years ago and that he was weighed in gold by Balagangadharanatha swamiji of Adichunchanagiri Mutt. When contacted, Shravanabelgola temple administration special officer Madan Gowda denied Nithyananda had ever performed the Mahabhishekha. Likewise, Adichunchanagiri Mutt manager Shivaram also denied the godman ever having been weight by gold by Balagangadharanatha swamiji. However, speaking to Deccan Herald, the seer admitted Nithyananda "met me several times". DH News Service | |

CID Investigates Further
CID digs into Swami’s fund sources
Chandan Nandy, Apr 7, Bangalore:
After raiding the Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam on Monday, the State Crime Investigation Department (CID) is prepared to enlarge the scope of its investigation into the godman’s sex scandal and associated alleged offences.
According to top state government sources, the raids and enquiries elsewhere have yielded some vital clues related to the Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam’s financial resources and the manner in which land was procured by virtue of “gift deeds” that had the godman as the sole owner of nearly 22 acres of land in Bidadi over which his ashram was built.
The second angle of the CID enquiry relates to singling out some of the ashramites, those who continue to remain at the sprawling Bidadi ashram, as well devotees who have altogether quit the cult organisation.
‘Guru Droha’
“Some of the ashramites have given their statements to the police, but none of them are cooperating or prepared to divulge details of what went on in the ashram. It seems they believe saying anything their guru would amount to ‘guru droha’,” an official said.
Sources said that the objective is to get to the bottom of allegations of sex with ashramites of both genders, a point that is part of Lenin Karuppan’s original and supplementary statements made before CID sleuths.
In his statement, Lenin, who exposed the video in which Nithyananda is shown having sex with a Tamil actress, is believed to have named a person whose ashramite name begins with the alphabet V.
Since the raids on Monday, CID sleuths are busy poring through several documents and registers they seized from the ashram premises where they have so far been examined and recorded the statements of over 30 ashramites, including brahmacharis and brahmacharinis who are believed to have access to Nithyananda’s bedroom.
The CID team is believed to have recovered some interesting items from Nithyananda’s bedroom.
Among these are no less than 120 saffron robes and several sets of feminine dresses, including sarees and female jewellery which the godman used to attire and adorn himself in during special occasions.
After confirming with several inner-circle ashramites the precise utility of the feminine dresses, the CID sleuths have come to conclude that Nithyananda was a transvestite or a cross-dresser -- person who assumes the dress and manner usually associated with the opposite sex.
Sources revealed that Nithyananda would drape himself in ‘kanjeevaram’ sarees -- complete with blouses and petticoats -- and adorn himself with feminine jewellery on Durgashtami or Navratri as part of what was known among his devotees as “devi darshan”. A number of imitation ornaments and sarees have been seized by the CID sleuths.
He would also present himself, dressed a woman, on Mother’s Day during celebrations culminating in his birthday, which in some official documents and his biography, is recorded as January 1, 1978 (His passport carries his birth date as March 13, 1977). But such “darshan” was allowed only to those devotees who had attended and gone through three levels of the so-called “healing-spiritual-tantra” courses.

Nithyananda Still Heads Dhyanapeetam, Quits Only on Paper
Nithyananda's resignation was just another statement on paper, as are so many of his social service activities and other stories claimed on his website! Clearly, as the spokesperson for the ashram, Sri Nithya Prananada himself said it, Nithyananda has not really quit as the head of Dhyanapeetam, because he will be the one to decide after he returns on the fate of the foundation, and whether he should be replaced at all!!
Please note that contrary to Nithyanada's own statement in which he announced his resignation, it is NOT a group of Hindu Dharma Acharyas who will be guiding and deciding the non-controversial Sadhakas (we wonder if there are any non-controversial sadhakas really left in Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam at this point!)
Ashram inmates await return of Bangalore Sex Swami
NDTV NEWS, Wednesday April 7, 2010, Bangalore
Inmates at Swami Nithyananda's ashram in Kallugopahalli, Bangalore are eagerly awaiting his return.
"We don't have a single person heading the ashram at this point. A group of eight sadhakas look after the day-to-day activities. We don't have any idea when Swamiji will return as we don't have any contact with him. It is a difficult time. But we are all eagerly awaiting his comeback," said Swami Nithya Pranananda, the ashram spokesperson.
Nithya Pranananda revealed that daily ashram tasks like puja at the temple and other rituals were being conducted as per Swamiji's earlier guidance.
"There is no way Swamiji will renounce his saffron robes. When he returns, he will decide if anyone, if at all, would replace him. For the moment he has resigned from the board of trustees.
"Swamiji has said he will come whenever his devotees need him. That scandal has not affected our faith in Swamiji. The devotees are all with us. They will never abandon Swami Nithyananda," said Nithya Pranananda.
On March 25, the Karnataka High Court refused to grant anticipatory bail to Swami Nithyananda.
The Swami attracted considerable bad press after a video that allegedly showed him with Tamil actress Ranjitha appeared on various TV news channels.

CID raids Nithyananda ashram at Bidadi
Chandan Nandy and Preethi Nagaraj, Bangalore/Mysore, DHNS:
Acting stealthily, the Karnataka Crime Investigation Department (CID) on Monday conducted raids at the Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam ashram of sex scandal-tainted self-proclaimed godman Nithyananda, now on the run, and searched the premises before seizing documents.
The day-long operation yielded several documents, including registers, that were recovered from the headquarters of the cult organisation located at Kallugopahalli in the Bidadi taluk of Ramanagara district.
The search-and-seizure operation, the first at the ashram since the CID took over the case late last month, was conducted on the basis of a warrant obtained from the Ramanagara magistrate.
The CID sleuths also searched Nithyananda’s bedroom, which was the scene of the sexual activities he engaged with Tamil actress Ranjitha. They are believed to have recovered some key items related to the investigation from the now infamous bedroom where entry for ashramites, other than those Nithyananda chose to allow, was restricted.
“The CID is pursuing the investigation proactively and all leads are being pursued to gather evidence,” a top government official told Deccan Herald.
Meanwhile, refuting claims that the State government was being “slow” in its probe against Nithyananda, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa told Deccan Herald in Mysore that the “investigation is being pursued aggressively” and that his government was “not interfering with the probe”.
‘No soft stand’
The chief minister, who was in Mysore to take part in the Vijaya Sankalpa meet, said emphatically that his government was not taking a soft stand on the Nithyananda controversy.
Monday’s search and seizure has unnerved the few ashramites, including some women brahmacharinis, who continue to hold out there in the hope of the return of their “master” Nithyananda, believed to be in hiding somewhere in North India. Even though he is believed to be changing his location frequently, the CID is trying to pinpoint his exact whereabouts.
“CID sleuths are at present going through the documents and registers in an attempt to unearth evidence related to the godman’s financial resources, land acquisition, and links with women brahmacharinis,” sources said. “We suspect he has destroyed some incriminating papers.”
The sleuths are particularly interested in finding out the relationship Nithayanda had with some individual brahmacharis and brahmacharinis.
Sources said they are also trying to find out how instrumental Nithyananda’s so-called secretary T Dhanasekaran, alias Sadhananda, alias Aiyya, was in the godman’s land acquisition deals.

Godman's ashram also a business centre, claims informer
Chandan Nandy, Apr 3, Chennai:
The Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam, fugitive godman Nithyananda's so-called abode of healing and spirituality, was also the centre of a thriving business which his younger brother, Nithyeshwar Ananda ran, a former ashramite who exposed the sex scandal last month has said.
Thirty-five-year-old Lenin Karuppan, whose secretly filmed December 2009 operation inside Nithyananda's bedroom at the godman's Bidadi ashram near here exposed the sordid goings-on there, told Deccan Herald during a tell-all exclusive interview that the Nithyananda Import Export company is "registered in the name of Nithyananda's brother and another ashram member".
Only one video
But a day after claiming he possessed two other CDs containing explicit footage of Nithyananda's sexual activities, Karuppan insisted there was only one video which was now in the possession of the Karnataka Criminal Investigation Department (CID). In an email statement to Deccan Herald, Karuppan claimed he was misquoted on account of a "language communication" gap, though he did not retract any other part of the interview that took place in an undisclosed location in Chennai on Friday.
Nithyeshwar, who is believed to have fled the Bidadi ashram along with Nithyananda on March 2 when the scandal broke, is in charge of all accounts for the Dhyanapeetam's India operations since 2004. According to Karuppan, who was a Dhyanapeetam insider since 2006, "all books, gift article, statues (made of wood, stone, marble and metal) etc are sent to the United States and other countries through this company."
Disclosing that unusually high amounts of money (in Rupee and US dollar terms) is charged for the so-called healing and enlightenment programmes, Karuppan alleged that the ashram earned about Rs 11.5 crore.
Giving an example, Karuppan claimed that between November 25 and December 2009, 250 international devotees paid $6,000 each for the Inner Awakening programme, "bringing the total amount received by Dhyanapeetam to more than Rs 6 crore".
Money-spinning machine
Likewise, by November 15, 2009 100 participants for a three-month healing course arrived at Bidadi, each paying $8,000. "From this programme alone Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam received Rs 4 crore," Karuppan said, providing a glimpse of the money-spinning machine that was the Dhyanapeetam. For the four-day "NSP programme" held in Tamil Nadu between November 26 and 29, last year, each of the 3,000 participants paid Rs 5,000, "taking the total amount received to Rs 1.5 crore", Karuppan claimed.
The former ashramite said there are other sources of earning money, including what is referred to as Nithyananda's "pada puja" (feet worship).
The "pada puja" involves select families worshipping his feet for about 10 minutes each. For this Rs 25,000 had to be coughed up by each family in India, while in the US the rate is $2,000.
Karuppan admitted he did not have access to all financial records of the Dhyanapeetam. "But I have firsthand information with regards to Galleria department accounts, of which I had direct knowledge, and through my close association with other top department heads and inner circle members I have indirect knowledge."
Alleging that "no tax was ever paid for anything sold through (Ananda) Galleria", Karuppan said "tax was not even included in the bills these past seven years".
According to him, "income tax, sales tax, turnover tax - none of these were ever paid, because the accounts department would make the auditor show that these items are given away as gifts by the trust (not sold for a price by Galleria)."

He is admitted to the ICU at present,” Manjunath told Deccan Herald.
